The often talked about demise of film photography isn't that surprising really. Having spent the last two weeks trying to get film, paper and developing materials from two of the UK's leading suppliers has been impossible.
Firstly AG Photographic provided a message after placing the order that they have a large number of orders and are dispatching as soon as possible and to let them know if the order is urgent. I replied but heard nothing for four days so I cancelled by email and had an almost immediate reply with an apology. AG don't take the money until dispatch so no refund required.
Secondly Silverprint who dispatch the next day never had any messages of problems, and two days later I received an email from Parcelforce saying my parcel would be delivered a couple of days later, within the 3 to 5 days originally quoted. The tracking number however never worked and a few days after expected delivery date there is no sign of the parcel and Parcelforce have no knowledge of collecting it from Silverprint. Silverprint took my money and I am still awaiting a reply and a refund.
Luckily i was able to source the materials needed (leftovers from other Uni workshops), so the workshop was not a complete disaster...
UPDATE - Silverprint claim they didn't dispatch because they were waiting for one roll of film but will now dispatch and send the last roll of film at a later time. One poxy roll of film out of 20 odd rolls. Poor communication.
UPDATE 2. One day delivery and just waiting on one roll of film so they can do it.
The end of film, far from it, a resurgence perhaps...
